In Sous-sol, the first production by the French company Allongé, the audience will be taken on a journey to explore other mineral worlds in the galaxy. Arnaud Deprez has created a Breaking ballet for five B-boys and B-girls moving like they are on a drilling mission on an exoplanet. Taking the physical gestures of Breaking to the next level, they slide and glide across the stage, digging and drilling tunnels in their quest for unique minerals and gems. Along the way, they descend deeper and deeper into the underground - the “sous-sol” - tunnelling through layers of planetary crust, until the dancers finally start transforming into the very material they were digging for.
Practicing traditional Bboying since the age of twelve, Arnaud Deprez - Bboy Fenix (Joyeux Loufock) has participated in the most important world one-on-on breaking competitions. In 2015, he began to dance and choreograph with the Cie Mouvmatik, and in 2017 he created his first solo Process, which translates his visceral need to express the feeling of displacement and the desire for liberation through dance. After a stint with the Compagnie Käfig, he continues to refine his hip-hop and breaking choreographic techniques, instilling his determination, experience and artistic entrepreneurship in his company, the Compagnie Allongé.
