After her residence at La Faktoria and the Mediterranean Dance Centre, choreographer Laura Arís Álvarez and the Zagreb Dance Company will present some of her ideas for the new production entitled Geometry of a Breath, whose completion is expected in September 2022.

We are nature, our fingertips pointing towards portals of the spiritual, the incorporeal, the infinite.

We are the collective body, an ancient body, a heavenly body.

We are permeable. Eternally becoming.

We are.

We are together now, creating a new code, a cryptic, spontaneous and absolutely necessary code. The perpetual movement and the ever-connecting energy oscillates, rises, and falls...It expands and contracts, flows, curls, collides.

Scientific data has become the catalyst for extending the habits of the imagination into poetic realms. Modern science tells us of an extraordinary range of interrelationships. Now more than ever, it is clear that we are parts of a whole. We cannot ignore that the sea around us is the same, and our foundations are shared. At least, as long as there is an Us.

Laura Aris Álvarez is a performer, choreographer and recognised international dance teacher. Since 2009, she has been working as a freelance artist, developing her creative practices and collaborating with other artists. Laura has combined her artistic practice with important pedagogical work in the international contemporary dance field. Between 1996 and 1999, she was a member of Juan Carlos García's Lanònima Imperial dance company, and General Elèctrica artistic collective in several productions created by Tomás Aragay in Barcelona. She received the Lladró outstanding dancer award at Festival de Valencia (1999). From 1999 until 2008, she danced in the Belgium company Ultima Vez directed by Wim Vandekeybus. In 2009, Laura and Jorge Jáuregui founded Ember, the artistic platform that held their works until 2014. Over the past few years, she has been Wim Vandekeybus's assistant and movement coach for several revivals of Ultima Vez, as well as performances directed by theatre director Ivo Van Hove (for Dutch National Opera & Ballet Amsterdam, la Comedie Francaise in Paris and International Theatre Amsterdam).
