ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: This workshop is addressed to dance professionals and newcomers interested in the practice of movement making in response to given external stimuli. A series of choreographic tasks and provocations will be proposed concerning the topic of bodily organs, which we will investigate through dance, text, drawing and shared dialogue. The practice of devising movement will be viewed as a personal process that requires active engagement with your specific individual history, memories, ideas, and values. The creation of movement will therefore be looked upon as an investigation of interiority. We will work individually, in pairs, and as a group to deconstruct phrase material, salvage the “best bits”, and find alternative physical offers. This workshop is process orientated. Create, throw away.
BIO: Lucy Marinkovich is a professional contemporary dancer and choreographer from New Zealand. Upon graduating from the New Zealand School of Dance she danced with Footnote Dance Company and has since choreographed three works on the company: Vile Bodies (2012), The Bosch Box (2015), and Centerfolds (2016) and has shown her work in festivals throughout New Zealand. Lucy has been awarded both the Eileen May Norris Dance Trust Scholarship, and the Tup Lang Choreographer’s Award. She is the founder of Borderline Arts Ensemble, a multi-disciplinary performance collective who create contemporary dance works and performance art installations. Lucy has undertaken choreographic residencies in Singapore and Malaysia, and in early 2016 completed a BA in English Literature.
