You must have at least once wondered what happens behind an illuminated window. You wander the streets absentmindedly and all of a sudden – there! A thought! A curiosity! A question?! What is happening right now in the space behind that window... Does it inhabit people like you or perhaps totally different persons? Are they talking on the telephone right now? Are they arguing or perhaps experiencing a drama? Or perhaps none of that – someone might have just forgotten to turn the lights off and your imagination is running forcibly and you cannot help yourself. Will you go and ring the doorbell? Or will you just keep walking...
We place our souls on display. Just go ahead, peak into our relationships, thoughts, solutions. You may imagine yours, we’ll accept you but you have to look at the reflections of our souls. You can just pass by, we won’t stop anyone… or, will you stop perhaps? Oh, too many questions…
Vesna Mimica is a dancer, choreographer art director of the VEM contemporary dance ensemble which was founded 25 years ago. She is the author of 17 all-evening dance events and 3 dance shows produced with the Croatian TV (Before Departure, Fragments and Mahler). Fragments was awarded at the Drama, Opera and Ballet Festival in Prague. In the recent years the ensemble and the choreographer have been exploring the site specific form. This has generated a number of performances in non-specific areas like the project entitled Quartet with Violoncellist Neven Šverko, which was performed in four cities and composed into a feature film. The Picture from the Street in the space of Saša Šekoranja’s flower shop, Hey, what are You Doing in the Zagrebačka Banka building in Zagreb’s Vukovarska street and Passage in the passage between the Večernjak and Vjesnik buildings in the same street are just some of her prominent projects. As a permanent contributor to the cultural programme on Croatian TV, Vesna Mimica actively reviews the art of dance in Croatia.
