After years of being stuck in space, between spaces and their reflections, we are facing the deadline. It is Now! Now intensifies all of experience. In these decadent times, in this year of collapse, only Now matters; it is a gap, a time limit challenging our future, our intentions and our ploys. The show Large by Contemporary Dance Studio (Studij za suvremeni ples) probes into the fulfilling prophecies, dystopias and utopias that develop and vanish before our eyes. Large celebrates the metamorphosis, the moment of birth and death, the one-time performance that is only Now and that can not be repeated. Large is rock'n'roll! The global crisis takes us to the yesterday's vision of the future; a vision that has turned out to be fatally false. Euro, The World Bank, agency ratings, safety measures, internet… all this has turned out to be so false; it has been falling apart before our eyes and looks worse than the worst-case scenario. But this is inevitable in science fiction; our worst fears become true, yet take an utterly unexpected shape - things unimaginable become conventional wisdoms, commonplace and everyday. This is the moment of the final showdown; Here and Now are up for grabs. The breakup with linear perception of time can scare us, but can also free us, as events no longer follow each other in sequence. We can arrange them as we please or leave them scattered in total chaos. What are the ethical consequences of these decadent times? What are their ontological implications? And finally, are we ready for the brave new age?
