Four performers, eleven scale models, and hundreds of gummy bears create the world of Katastrophe: a fable about human civilization, daftly focused on disaster. In this context, the gummy bears suffer earthquakes, oil spills, wars and extermination. Everything is performed live through chemical experiments and subversive actions. Around the stage, three large screens immerse the audience in this pop world of chaos, game and destruction.
Katastrophe reflects on the roots of human violence, set in relation to the perception and manipulation of the violence unleashed by nature. Are Auschwitz and Pompeii the same? Are Pompeii and Chernobyl the same? We have a very clear idea about that.
Katastrophe develops the performing language that defines Agrupación Señor Serrano: performance, dance, physical theater, video in scene and interactive technologies.
The company was founded in 2006 by Alex Serrano and is based in Barcelona. Agrupación Señor Serrano is a company dedicated to the performing arts, which creates a short-circuit between hyper-innovative technological products and other modern vintage pieces, combining theatre, dance and video-art to achieve a wicked and highly original dramatic language that explores the mechanisms of human perception. Experiments, live elaborations, destabilizing performance actions and interaction are the codes of Agrupación Señor Serrano with a creativity that turns the video image into a scathing language.
