Protomembrana is a mechatronic lesson, in the guise of a performance, featuring a dreskeleton, an interactive audiovisual environment and a range of dynamic interfaces.

The performance uses, in addition to verbal narration, graphic animation, music and lighting. All these scenic elements are treated as interactive elements which are controlled by means of various interfaces. Apart from images and sound, this interactive story uses other devices such as a camera/gun and a touch sensitive costume. At times, the use of these appliances transposes the Protomembrana performance to the sub-genres of hypnosis and magic.

Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca, a founding member of La Fura dels Baus, artistic coordinator, musician and performer, internationally well-known for his mechatronic performances and robotic installations.

The incorporation and transgression of scientific and technological elements, which he has been using since the early nineties, in addition to the technical means for interpreting them consisting of unique and specific devices, have produced a new cosmogony that is warm, raw and ironic.
