The show main idea arises from the memory complex waters and also from all the movement related with the jump, as game, ritual, dance and athletic competition.
Vaslav Nijinsky left his career in 1918, when he was caught by the schizophrenia, from which he was never fully recovered. The dancer Serge Lifar visited him and he intended to revive his memory performing exercises at the bar showing some steps of his choreography. Nijinsky was suddenly animated, and without any preparation, with the bar in his back, he jumped and he was caught flying by the photographer lens.
NIJINSKY'S JUMP Maria Rovira works the jump as the starting point finding primary impulses and even atavistic impulses since we always jump for some reason, we never jump for our own momentum. We jump for joy, we jump after an unexpected event such as fear, fright, we jump to pass over an obstacle, we jump when we want to see something that is over our eye line, we jump to take a run up that will leads us to another place. The jump it is to be moved, it is to be raised, it is change.
Nijinsky's Jump premier was at the "Grec Festival" in Barcelona on July 10th. Previously performed in the "Teatro monumental de Mataro" where the company is resident. In 2008, Transit Dansa Dance Company gains the "Premio Butaca" award with the work Nijinsky's Jump like better dance spectacle of the season.
