In the season 2000/20001, according to the Croatian State Agency for Statistics, there were about 1,3 million visitors at 5719 performances in 48 Croatian theatres. Compared to the previous theatrical season, there were 23% more performances and 20% more visitors. Of all the performed works, the majority were dramas (193), out of which 99 written by Croatian authors, 30 operas and 25 ballet performances. The Agency did not consider it important to mention the data about the number of performances of contemporary dance shows.
