Alien Express and The Devil's Garden tonight in San Vincenti
Second festival day includes two performances: Alien Express by young Slovene artists Žigan Krajnčan and Gašper Kunšek is a part of Aerowaves Twenty 17 programme, selected by Edvin Liverić, Croatian Aerowaves' representative.
Alien Express is a dance journey of transformations. Turning David and Goliath into a Centaur, climbing a mountain or singing a love song, the authors create dream-like images in this disarming, gripping duet. This piece will be performed on Friday, July 21 at 9.30 pm on main square. Entrance is free.
Croatian contemporary dance scene will be represented tonight with The Devil's Garden by David Hernandez, performed by Zagreb Dance Company. In this piece we open a window on a society within a society- a community of women suspended outside of everyday reality.
As an American man creating a work for Croatian women, Hernandez took the position of a witness, the point of view of an outsider looking in, and wanted to develop an experience for the public resembling his own experience as a watcher and observer of a world outside his own. This place is a suspended metaphorical zone, existing between the lines of the male patriarchal reality of our world, where different female lives cross and interact. The Devil's Garden will be performed tonight at 10 pm in Grimani Castle. The ticket price for programme in Castle Grimani is 60 HRK.
