Adorabilis, In a Row and Event Horizon tonight in San Vincenti
Third festival evening includes three dance performances: the programme starts at 9.30 pm on main square with performance In a Row by Ana Mrak performed by first-year students of contemporary dance; it is a short dance piece which is the result of Performative Workshop held for the 1st year studenst of the Academy of Dance Art.
This 12-day-long workshop focused on group work, common creation of various types of dance materials and the individual variations of those materials. In this 20-minute-long piece, dancers make a mutually dependent group which gradually accumulates and multiplies the dance material, and through various chain reactions changes the rhythm and the direction of the choreography, as well as their mutual relationships.
The programme will be continued with performance Adorabilis Portuguese Brazilian duo Jonas Lopes and Lander Patrick, a part of Twenty 17 selection within Aerowaves which includes 20 of the most promising emerging choreographers in Europe. Taking octopus as a symbol of multiplicity, the two authors created an octopus-styled dance whose aim is to ingest, digest and regurgitate diverse cultural and natural references. Octopus Adorabilis uses its body, along with light and sound, as independent elements that impact behaviour and the reaction of its interpreters, just as hunger, temperature and sexual instinct affect animal decisions. Adorabilis will be perfomed at 10 pm in Castle Grimani; the ticket price is 60 HRK.
The pfestival evening will be finished with piece Event Horizon by Martina Nevistić which gives us a glimpse into the surreal world of androgynous beings, which is both very familiar and intimate world at the edge of perception. Event Horizon deals with the transformation of space, time and body, creating an atmosphere of another dimension, a world which is far away and close at the same time. It stages the link between the micro-cosmos of one unit, one inner world, and other units in their interaction, thus creating a bigger, wider picture of universe. This piece will be performed at 11 pm in loggia.
