The Bitef Dance Company at the opening, 'Gran Bolero' at the end
The highlight of this year's festival opening on Friday, 23 July is the show Revolutionary Room by the Bitef Dance Company from Serbia, who could not come last year due to epidemiological restrictions.
It's a conceptual piece choreographed by dance artist Isidora Stanišić, which looks back at the October Revolution and current state of the world a hundred years from then, posing questions such as: what happened to revolutionary ideas and has our society – overwhelmed by sensationalism, shopping and reality shows – got any brawn left to resist, rebel and change?
Using contemporary dance expressions, the author wonders if there is still chance for us to reform from inside morally and intellectually as persons lured by the narcissist ideology of our time, and eventually start to deeply reform our society and the world order.
