Aerowaves most promising emerging choreographers at San Vincenti Festival!

This year's programme includes 10 performances, three of which from Aerowaves Twenty17.

Aerowaves is a network of dance experts from more than thrity European countries, which has been creating cross-border performance opportunities for emerging choreographers for more than 20 years.

Each year Aerowaves selects 20 of the most promising emerging choreographers in Europe and promotes their work for a year, creating opportunities to perform with Aerowaves' Partners. Aerowaves Twenty17 call for applications received about 600 works, which is a proof enough of the network's importance as a hub for dance discovery and an important platform for emerging new artists. This year, Dance and Non-Verbal Theatre Sanvincenti will present three out of Aerowaves Twenty17, chosen by the Croatian Aerowaves' representative Edvin Liverić.

When I choose performances for the Festival, I keep in mind the three different locations on which the festival programme is held (the castle, the square and the loggia), and I try to select the projects suitable for those locations, and at the same time representative of a wide range of approaches to contemporary dance. I am guided by the same criteria that guide me in choosing Aerowaves Twenty: the work must be based on a well-though-out idea, which always inspires originality in choreography; the work must have a firm and clear structure; the piece must be performed with ardour and belief; the work will not lose its strength and appeal in new, specific conditions; the authors are not known to Croatian audience, but I am convinced that they and their works will have a bright future on the European dance scene, says Edvin Liverić, who has selected the following works for San Vincenti Festival:

Your Mother at My Door, the production of the Hungarian dance company Timothy and the Things and the result of the partnership between Emese Cuhorka and László Fülöp, Alien Express by young Slovene artists Žigan Krajnčan and Gašper Kunšek, Adorabilis by Jonas Lopes (Portugal) and Lander Patrick (Brasil).

The fourth project coming to San Vincenti through Aerowaves (but not out of its Twenty17) and the one which will open this year's edition of San Vincenti Festival on July 20 is Hidden in Plain Sight, choreographed by Valentin Alfery and performed by Austrian dance company Hungry Sharks.
